Toscotec Building First TT SYD-18FT Yankee Dryer

Toscotec, Italy, reports that it has begun building the first TT SYD-18FT (18 ft-dia Yankee dryer) at its specialized workshop in Marlia, Lucca (Italy). Due to the large diameter and overall performance of the TT SYD design, Toscotec says it will be possible to reach a production speed of 1,800 m/min with steam heated hoods. Also, it notes, paper machine overall energy consumptions with the unit are far below today's standards.
The TT SYD-18FT will be delivered to an undisclosed customer at the end of the year and it will be started up in the first quarter of 2013.
