Recycled Board Prices Slip in August

U.S. Recycled boxboard prices slipped $20/ton in August, Mark Wilde, senior analyst with Deutsche Bank, reports. Coated recycled board (CRB) prices were down $20 m/m to $870 -$890/ton, he says. Uncoated recycled board (URB) was down $20/ton to $635 - $665/ton. The two key issues are (1) rapidly falling OCC costs, and (2) soft demand. Between the two grades, URB demand is slightly better, Wilde notes.
