Metsä Board's Kemi mill in Finland reports that it recently established a major milestone with the production of its three millionth metric ton of Kemiart coated white top kraftliner. New double coated Kemiart Graph+ and Kemiart Lite+ grades were launched earlier this year, following a rebuild of the coating section and installation of a second coating unit at Kemi. Kemiart Ultra completes the coated product range, which includes a suitable coated liner for each printing method.

Metsä Board notes that the basis for development of its coated grades has always been feedback from its customers and end-users upon their needs. "The current product family is based on innovation, enabling the corrugated industry to meet brand owners' and retailers' demands for higher quality packaging regardless of their chosen print technology," the company stated.

Kraftliner production started at Kemi in 1971. In 1990, the company upgraded its processing and invested in a coating unit, with production of coated white top kraftliner starting the same year.
