Nippon Paper Industries, Japan, announced that it will increase printing and communication paper prices by 10%, beginning October 21. The company noted that, while depreciation of the Japanese yen trend continues, prices of raw materials and fuels are in an upward trend.
Nippon added that although the company has made sustained efforts to reduce costs, it has proved difficult to absorb all of the cost increases through the company's own efforts, and it thus decided there was no alternative but to pass the cost on to the product prices.
