UPM Selects Voith to Supply Labeling Materials Production Line at Changshu Mill

UPM, Helsinki, Finland, reports that it has chosen Voith Paper to supply the labeling materials production line at its Changshu mill in China. The agreement covers the main machinery and finishing equipment for the new machine. With the investment, UPM will strengthen its global position in labeling materials.

The new machine can produce 360,000 metric tons of labeling materials and uncoated woodfree specialty papers annually. All of these grades, UPM notes, "enjoy a healthy demand outlook in Asia." The new machine will start up at the end of 2015.

With headquarters in Shanghai, China, UPM Paper Asia produces fine papers for Asian markets and label and packaging materials for global markets. The company employs approximately 1,700 people in China, Finland, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Australia.
