Glatfelter Family Presented Cornerstone Award

The P.H. Glatfelter Family, York, Pa., USA, was recognized this past week by Lutheran Social Services of South Central Pennsylvania with the 2014 LSS Cornerstone Award. The award recognizes exceptional generosity of individuals in York County, Pa., through direct charitable support, leadership, and volunteer service.
The family's commitment to community began 150 years ago with Phillip H. Glatfelter's Spring Grove paper mill and a tradition of quiet, dedicated giving to the York community and beyond, the company notes. "Five generations of family leadership have built and sustained a world-class company and philanthropy that has supported everything from local churches to schools," a Glatfelter release stated.
Partners and sponsors of this year's event helped raise $165,500 in support of the group's community outreach services. Throughout the dinner's 11-year history, more than $1.7 million has been raised. Last year, LSS served more than 5,800 people through its outreach services in the county, providing more than $400,000 to help those who could not afford to pay.
