Fortress Announces Election of Directors

Fortress Paper Ltd., Vancouver, B.C., USA, this week announced that announces that five directors were elected at the annual general and special meeting of shareholders of the company held last week. The five directors elected (votes for/votes withheld) are: Chadwick Wasilenkoff (93.58%/6.42%); Richard O'C. Whittall (92.45%/7.55%); Joe Nemeth (92.95%/7.05%); Anil Wirasekara (92.95%/7.05%); and Terrence P. Kavanagh (93.11%/6.89%).
A total of 10,263,850 common shares of the company were voted at the meeting, representing 70.37% of the votes attached to all outstanding common shares. A formal report of voting results with respect to all matters voted upon at the meeting is available on SEDAR.
Fortress Paper operates internationally in two business segments—dissolving pulp and security paper products. The company operates its dissolving pulp business at the Fortress Specialty Cellulose Mill located in Canada, which has expanded into the renewable energy generation sector with the construction of a cogeneration facility and the production of NBHK pulp. The company is also evaluating expanding its dissolving pulp capacity by converting the Fortress Global Cellulose Mill located at Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Qué., Canada, into a dissolving pulp mill and re-starting the cogeneration facility. The company operates its security paper products business at the Landqart Mill in Switzerland, where it produces banknote, passport, visa, and other brand protection and security papers, and at its high security production and research facility in Canada, where it manufactures optically variable thin film material.
