U.S. Containerboard Output Rises

U.S. containerboard production in May increased 7.7% from April and was essentially flat compared with the same month last year. The month-over-month average daily production increased 4.2%, according to the AF&PA (Washington, D.C., USA) May 2014 Containerboard Statistics Report released this past week.
Shipments for May were 2,957,600 tons, representing 167.6 billion sq. ft. The containerboard operating rate for May increased 2.2 points compared with April, from 94.7% to 96.9%.
