Glatfelter, York, Pa., USA, has announced key leadership changes in its Specialty Papers Business Unit (SPBU), effective immediately. Timothy R. Hess is promoted to VP of sales and marketing, and Calvin Staudt Jr. has joined Glatfelter as VP of manufacturing. Both men will report to Brian Janki, VP and GM for SPBU.

In making this announcement, Janki said that "these changes strengthen the specialty papers team, creating a more integrated leadership structure for both our commercial and manufacturing organizations. I expect these changes to accelerate our new product development engine and enhance our customer experience, while improving our operating efficiency and cost position, all of which are critical to our ongoing success in specialty papers."

Hess brings 20 years of broad Glatfelter operating and commercial leadership experience and a strong technical background to his new assignment. He will assume ownership of SPBU’s commercial activities, including sales, marketing, new product development, and new business development. In addition to his professional experience, Hess earned a B.S. degree in engineering physics from the United States Military Academy, West Point, and a M.S. degree in pulp and paper from the Institute for Paper Science and Technology.

As VP of manufacturing, Staudt will assume responsibility for all specialty papers operations, with an emphasis on safety, reliability, efficient mill operations, and developing capabilities across Glatfelter’s manufacturing assets to align with the needs of current and future customers.

Staudt brings more than 30 years of industry manufacturing operations experience to Glatfelter. Most recently, he served as GM at RockTenn in Florence, S.C. Prior leadership roles include assignments with International Paper, Temple Inland, and Evergreen Packaging. He earned a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA from the University of Alabama. Staudt retired as a Commander of the United States Naval Reserve in 1997.
