BDC Fall Symposium Set for October 21-22 in Fort Myers, Fla.

The 2014 BDC (Bioenergy Deployment Consortium) Fall Symposium will be held in Fort Myers, Fla., USA, October 21-22, at the Hilton Garden Hotel. This year’s symposium includes a tour of the Algenol facility on Wednesday, October 22, which will be completed by 11: a.m. The Algenol plant (converts residual algae to a biocrude oil using a hydrothermal or supercritical water process) is about 15 min. from the airport. The deadline for making hotel reservations using the BDC special group rate is October 4. More information is available online.
The agenda for the symposium will have panels for progress reports from current cellulosic bio-product companies, experiences with scaling up bio-processes, lessons learned, and an update from government agencies. The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Neil Rossmeissl, DOE, who will discuss An Investigation into Expanding the Bioeconomy. Paul Woods, CEO of Algenol, will present the Algenol Story, and the after-dinner success story will be presented by Steve Hartig, GM of POET-DSM. New companies involved in the symposium this year include Enerkem, Cool Planet, PureVision, and Proton Power.
