As a junior at the University of Maine, Sarah Muzzy received the 2010 Student of the Year Award from TAPPI at Papercon. No wonder, given her headlong dive into everything paper soon after she became familiar with the field.
So intense was her interest, she earned the nickname "Princess of Paper" as she passionately pursued her degree in Chemical Engineering. "I attended every TAPPI Student Conference while I was in college," Sarah said, "and was amazed at how the paper industry seemed like such a close knit family."
It was her attendance at these many events, and her ongoing involvement as a volunteer at Papercon and other industry-related activities that she began to develop a diverse network of professional and student contacts. It was this foundation, she notes, that helped nurture her interest in the field and the ultimate decision to make it her career.
Has she been disappointed? Not by a long shot.
