A new Voith (Germany) stock preparation system has come online at the Indian paper producer N. R. Agarwal Industries in Sarigam, in the federal state of Gujarat. The company established a complete, new paper mill in Sarigam for graphic paper grades so as to meet the rising demand for graphic paper in the Indian market. The annual production capacity of the new mill is 100,000 metric tons of paper.
An IntensaDrum SD 35 pulping drum is part of the stock preparation system at Agarwal Industries. The IntensaDrum unit is a part of the BlueLine equipment family and the first one of this type that has been in operation in India. Shortly after startup, the IntensaDrum produced very good results, according to Managing Director R. N. Agarwal. "It is a very good machine. The rejects are very clean and free of fiber."
The stock preparation system at the mill is a two-stage deinking and flotation system. Voith’s decades of experience with stock preparation systems was decisive for N. R. Agarwal Industries Ltd. when choosing a supplier, Voith noted, adding that the low maintenance and energy costs of the IntensaDrum SD 35 pulping drum also was an important factor. Furthermore, the IntensaDrum SD 35 is simple and robust in operation and its pulping performance is very good, the mill reports.
Voith supplied the entire stock preparation system. The delivery included the automation technology, engineering, assembly, and startup.
N. R. Agarwal Industries was founded by N R Agarwal, father of the current managing director, in 1993. The company produces various types of boards, newsprints, and graphic paper at Vapi in India. It has some 1,200 employees.
