David White to Retire

Dr. David White of the Herty Advanced Materials Development Center, Savannah, Ga., USA, will retire following a 38-yr. career in the pulp and paper industry. Dr. White has made significant contributions to the industry and served on many TAPPI committees and Agenda 2020. 
 
In recognition for his work in ozone bleaching, Dr. White received an American Chemical Society Hero of Chemistry and the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award. A former employee of Union Camp Corp. and assistant director of the Institute of Pulp and Paper Science, Dr. White was awarded a TAPPI Fellowship earlier this year. Dave and his wife Sallie will continue to reside in Savannah.
