China PMI at 49.8 Signals January Manufacturing Contraction

The current PMI (Purchasing Managers’ Index) in China of 49.8 signals a contraction in overall manufacturing. This is the lowest China PMI since 2012. The following graph shows the China seasonally adjusted PMI from 2005 through January 2015.
