The Paper and Packaging Board (P+PB), McLean, Va., USA, this week announced its officers for 2015: John Williams (Domtar), board chair; Steve Voorhees (RockTenn), vice chair; and Christian Fischer (Georgia-Pacific), secretary/treasurer. Williams, Voorhees, and Fischer will be serving a second year.
The Paper and Packaging Board was formed in January 2014 and held its first meeting in March 2014. Just a year shy of its inaugural meeting, the board met on February 24, 2015, where it unanimously nominated and elected the three officers.
The 12-member board oversees the paper and packaging sector’s national promotion program formed to improve the demand for paper and paper-based packaging products.
"We have come a long way in the past year," said Board Chair and Domtar President and CEO John Williams. "We elected our board, put our operations house in order, hired staff, and now we are in the thick of testing our campaign. This campaign, which was no more than a twinkle in our eye a year ago, is set to change the way consumers appreciate paper and paper-based packaging."
A current roster of board members is available online.
The Paper and Packaging Board establishes and guides promotions designed to expand demand for paper and paper-based packaging products. Manufacturers and importers of these products participate in the Paper Checkoff, an industry-funded promotion program established by the USDA in 2014.
