U.S. Launches Illegal Subsidies Trade Case Against Canadian SC Imports

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The U.S. government this week launched a countervailing duties (CVD) trade case against Canadian producers of super-calendared paper (SC paper), citing a variety of alleged illegal subsidies and claiming injury or the threat of material injury to the domestic industry. Canadian companies named are Port Hawkesbury Paper, JD Irving, Resolute Forest Products, and Catalyst Paper.

The CVD petition was made by the Coalition for Fair Paper Imports whose members include Verso Paper, Madison Industries, and perhaps now some other entities as well.
