Cominter Tisú Restarts Tissue Line at Former Celulosas de Hernani Mill in Spain

Under the new name of Cominter Tisú, production has resumed at the former Celulosas de Hernani tissue mill in northern Spain. According to a PPI (Brussels, Belgium) report, one of the two tissue machines at the site resumed production in late January, and the second tissue line is scheduled to restart near the end of this year.
The two machines at Cominter Tisú have a combined capacity of around 45,000 metric tpy, and have been idle for more than two years after the former Celulosas de Hernani fell victim to the economic crisis in Spain, PPI reported. Cominter acquired the company in July of this past year for an undisclosed sum.
According to Cominter, the startup of the first tissue line created 28 jobs. Once the second machine is running, the mill will have a headcount of 43.
Cominter Tisú is Cominter's second tissue mill, PPI notes. The first one in Burriana, eastern Spain, used to be part of Italy's Kartogroup and was fully taken over by Cominter in 2009. The two mills have a combined capacity of some 90,000 metric tpy.
Elsewhere, Cominter revealed that it also plans to raise its tissue converting capacity. The group intends to start up a new line for the production of Away from Home rolls at its converting site in Burriana in June. This will raise Cominter's converting capacity to 90,000 metric tpy, according to the PPI report.
