Schur Pack Germany, Büchen, Germany, is currently building Europe's most modern high-tech folding box facility and is investing extensively in a new location. A 28,000 sq. meter plant is currently being constructed. The investment of almost EUR 70 million will allow Schur to extend its competitive edge and set a clear example for folding boxes "made in Germany."

The new facility and the associated investments in the new plant at the future Business Park A24 location has the purpose of providing a positive and, most importantly, sustainable corporate development for Schur Pack Germany within Europe.

"The outstanding efficiency and the new quality standards that are offered by our plant are simply unique. Most notably, for our customers this means outstanding quality, highest hygiene standards, and shortest delivery times. With this, we come even closer to our customers," said Klaus Madsen, managing director at Schur Pack Germany.

To satisfy the growing customer requirements regarding quality and reduced delivery times, a majority of the entire investment goes into new production equipment. "Our new plant has the highest possible degree of automation available on the market. We are particularly proud of our fully-automated high-bay warehouse," says Andreas Lührs, plant manager at Schur Pack Germany.

Due to the large investments in state-of-the-art printing and processing machines, Schur is also extending its portfolio of products. In addition to improved printing quality, innovative finishing technology, such as hot and cold foil, is now also available to customers.

In addition, AGV's (Automated Guided Vehicles) ensure efficient flow and production processes. "We completely utilize the possibilities offered by cutting edge intra logistics in the new plant and guarantee optimized work processes for our customers to realize shortest delivery times," explained Jan Bollweg, operations manager at Schur Pack Germany. Here, many of the complex intra logistics challenges are solved in cooperation with the affiliated company Schur Packaging Systems AB in Sweden.

The new high-tech plant also sets new standards with regard to energy efficiency. The complete construction is supplied entirely with regenerative sources of energy and no fossil fuels are required in the entire building.

Schur is an international team of 15 companies that offers packaging, packaging machines, packaging systems, and know-how. Worldwide, Schur employs more than 800 employees in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, Benelux, Poland, Spain, the U.K., and the U.S.
