Badger Paper Mills Inc., Peshtigo, Wis., USA reported this past week that it has started to feel the effect of yet another paper mill closure in the nearby state of Michigan. Over the past several years, manufacturing facility closures, global competitive pressures, and corporate consolidations continue, affecting both profitability and sustainability of mills.
Badger Paper Mills (BPM) noted that through the industry's unstable years, it currently and successfully continues to grow and expand its product offering to printers and converters. With increased demand for U.S. made, recycled paper products, the company is now fitted to produce what they feel is a large need for tablet and notepad converters, manufacturers, and printers.
"BPM has seen a jump in the use of 100% PCW recycled content papers over the use of virgin and 30% PCW as businesses gravitate towards environmentally friendly practices," said Mitchell Mekaelian, VP of sales. "With the impact of a recent paper mill closure in upper Michigan, the demand will continue growing," Mekaelian continued. "Our tablet and notepad papers continue to increase in orders and production is growing as customers look to make products and businesses greener."
The company said it is running production on two machines; one designed for the food industry and the second solely to manufacture its exclusive ‘Envirographic 100.’ The mill specializes in niche markets requiring custom orders and unique products.
In addition to this range of products, the company added it also makes Envirographic 100 COLORS, a 100% post-consumer recycled pastel paper in canary, green, blue, pink, goldenrod, and cream. BPM is an environmentally-focused paper mill producing uncoated 100% PCW recycled fine papers for the printing industry.
