PPSA Announces Introduction to Industrial Hygiene Course

The Pulp and Paper Safety Association (PPSA) is pleased to announce the upcoming course "Introduction to Industrial Hygiene" to be held September 16-17, at the TAPPI Training Facility located at 15 Technology Parkway South in Peachtree Corners (Metro Atlanta), Ga., USA.
"This course is ideal for health and safety personnel who are looking for primary information on industrial hygiene," said Sue Cooper, M.S, CSP, manager of Safety/Ergonomics at Weyerhaeuser. "It will provide an introduction to IH principles along with practical information on hazard identification and methods of measurement and control that is sure to be of great value to all attendees."
In addition to gaining a basic understanding of the more common IH hazards that may be present at their site, participants will learn how to sample and measure those hazards and the primary methods of controlling and eliminating them, as well as the IH standards and exposure limits.

- Safety managers and coordinators in the pulp and paper, converting, or forest products industries
- Safety committee members
- Occupational health nurses
- Environmental health and safety technical support.
The course will be taught by Bayless Kilgore, CIH, CSP, of EnSafe. Kilgore is a senior safety professional who specializes in occupational hygiene exposure assessments and program management, as well as industrial safety compliance including auditing, program development, process safety management, and other safety consulting services.
