Optest Surface Roughness Measurement of Tissue

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Traditionally, the surface roughness of a sheet is measured by "air-leak" instruments. However, these are ineffective with most tissue products due to the porosity and/or embossing of the tissue sheet.

The new OpTiSurf, from OpTest Equipment Inc., revolutionizes the measurement of surface roughness of tissue. Using advanced optics and algorithms, the OpTiSurf quickly quantifies the optical roughness of an entire sheet. Published literature reveals that surface roughness has a major impact on softness and other tactile properties.

The OpTiSurf has also been used to monitor and maintain embossing quality.
