Interface Performance Materials, Inc. (IPM) is seeking an experienced Chemist/Material Scientist to join the Research and Development division. Persons in this position will be responsible for developing new composite materials for powertrain and architectural markets and work with the engineering and operational teams to develop unique high quality, cost effective performance materials.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Chemist with our organization, your primary focus will be to participate on a broad range of product development and research projects. Within the project scope assigned, the Chemist plans, executes and reports results of experiments. This is a hands-on research position. You will be part of the research and development team working with exciting new products in current and adjacent markets.
Additional duties include:
- Undertakes research and development projects, objectives and tasks as assigned, adhering to the basic parameters established.
- Assumes responsibility for recommendations in the planning of projects, under the guidance of the team leader, secures from all available sources pertinent ideas, advice, and other information to solve the problems, operates laboratory equipment (including PP) in the performance of tests or experiments. Secures special testing services as needed, reviews observations and records and evaluates results of experimental tests, reviews results with project team or team leader.
- Uses NPD tools. (MOS, stage/gate, critical parameter sheets etc.)
- Upon successful completion of a set of experiments is knowledgeable of and prepares or assists in the preparation of the required documentation.
- Creating and testing wet-formed composites and nonwoven materials for new product development and product properties enhancement.
Candidates will possess a strong technical background with the ability to both plan and develop the research and project steps necessary for new product development. It is also important that they display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to interact effectively with external customers and vendors, as well as individuals at multiple levels of our organization, including technical, sales, and manufacturing personnel.
Specific qualifications include:
- Engineering degree in Chemistry or Physics
- 5 years’ experience project management
- Background in wet formed products is a plus.
