According to a report this week by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester, U.K., a leading corrugated manufacturer is creating 12 new jobs at its Manchester factory.
Weedon Corrugated Products (Manchester, U.K) an independent manufacturer of corrugated packaging, will employ a dozen new staff members at its site on Audenshaw.
The company, which has a EUR 10 million turnover, is looking to recruit a mixture of skilled and semi-skilled full-time staff, printers, die-cutters, and operators for its corrugator, after significant company expansion. Weedon Corrugated Products employs 70 staff, mostly in its factory, with the rest in administration and sales. The additional employees will increase the 50-strong factory floor workforce by almost 25%.
The firm has seen significant growth in sales, following investment in new equipment, including a state-of-the-art corrugator. The new corrugator enabled the company to introduce its own brand of environmentally friendly, economical board grades. Production of Less-flute (which has proved to be very successful) in November reached more than 5 million square meters since it was introduced a year ago.
"In the past four years since acquiring this business, we have invested heavily in equipment to make Weedon Corrugated Products one of the top independent corrugated manufacturers in the U.K. This has enabled us to widen the range of products we supply and to increase our output. We are delighted now, particularly as the U.K. struggles to come out of recession, that we can advertise 12 new permanent jobs," said Managing Director John Weedon.
The Weedon Group was founded more than 28 years ago with sister company Weedon PSC (Packaging Solutions Center), in Staffordshire. Weedon PSC specializes predominantly in Retail Ready corrugated packaging and POS displays.
In July 2011, the company purchased an existing corrugated packaging business in Audenshaw, which then became Weedon Corrugated Products. With the addition of an in-house corrugator, the group was able to expand its offering into transit packaging and corrugated case work.
