ITC Paperboards Boosts Forestry Plan, Builds Soil Testing Lab

ITC Paperboards & Speciality Papers Division (PSPD), India, has developed demonstration plots to showcase various agronomic practices and agro-forestry models, apart from setting up of a soil testing laboratory at its clonal production center in Bhadrachalam, reported a local business daily picked up and quoted by an official Indian state newswire agency.
The laboratory has been set up to enable farmers get their soil tested free of cost, according to ITC Paperboards. ITC Paperboard’s Plantation Department, through its demonstration plots will showcase various agronomic practices and agro-forestry models to improve farm profitability.
ITC groups’s large-scale social and farm forestry program has greened more than 2,00,000 hectares and created over 95 million person days of employment for farmers, added the daily.
"We value our long-standing relationship with farmers that we have built over the years and are making significant efforts in enhancing their incomes through increasing productivity and being a willing buyer of their produce through direct purchase and cash payment on delivery to the plant," CEO for ITC-PSPD Sanjay Singh also told the paper.
