Applicant is responsible for the processes and systems related to the company safety and compliance programs. The essential function is to protect the employees and the company against harm, maintain safe working conditions, and meet the food safety standards required by our customers. This position is also responsible for providing team members with the appropriate safety training, tools, direction, and procedures necessary to ensure a safe working environment.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Essential Functions
- Ensure the facility meets the requirements of federal and/or state safety and reporting regulations
- Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety procedures as required by OSHA
- Organize and facilitate the safety committee for all three shifts
- Monitor and coordinate the company safety award program
- Conduct investigations of incidents and accidents
- Coordinate, monitor,and document safety training of all facility personnel
- Formulate and suggest work safety standards and enforce procedures
- Advise management on safety related concerns
- Examine potential unsafe working conditions
- Perform safety inspections and prepare reports
- Maintain and update safety, first aid, hazard communication, and industrial hygiene programs
- Maintain and update site safety procedures and equipment
- Maintain MSDS binders throughout the facility
- Develop, train, and maintain GMP programs to comply with independent food safety audits
- Monitor Pest Control Program
- Monitor conditions of the employees and facility relative to product safety
- Monitor security of the facility
- Develop and maintain working relationship with Food Safety auditors such as Steritech, Siliker, AIB, etc.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning and scheduling of maintenance and operational activities with the manufacturing manager
- Represent the company for all facility tours, audits, and inspections
- Perform environmental and general housekeeping duties in assigned areas of responsibility
- Perform other duties as directed
- Minimum of four years experience in related fields.
- OSHA Certification preferred
- Trade school or other specialty training a plus
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Accurate, detail oriented, self-managing, and self-motivated
- Ability to multi-task and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to take initiative
- Ability to work individually or in a team environment
- A professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude

- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Must be able to work nights and weekends when necessary for training and/or investigations on 2nd or 3rd shift
- Ability to lift 50 ld. periodically
- Must be able to occasionally climb ladders, work off elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways
- Must be able to correctly wear and work with required personal safety equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, foot protection, dust masks, gloves, safety harness, etc.)
- Position requires frequent sitting, moderate standing and/or walking, occasional bending, stooping, and kneeling
