TAPPI Webinar: Off-Odors in Paper and Board

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The free webinar, "Off-Odors in Paper and Board", will discuss various odiferous compounds and operational practices that have been found to contribute to malodors. Examples from mills will be discussed as well as approaches for detection and mitigation. Calls from end-users complaining that your paper stinks are never good news. While pulping malodors have decreased dramatically as pulp mills have reduced emissions, complaints in finished paper and board have increased. Factors like water system closure, chests with long dwell times, certain pulping methods or even reactions between additives can lead to foul aromas in the finished product.

After retiring from Nalco in 2006, she started International Microbial Associates, which provides companies assistance with new product development, problem solving, audits, bid reviews and training on biocides and microbial contamination.
