Proximus Engineering, Dothan, Ala., USA, reports that it has been contracted to perform an EPC project for the design and installation of a Tall Oil plant upgrade, including a new high speed disc centrifuge with automated cleaning in place (CIP) system at a mill in Georgia. New process additive tanks, raw tall oil storage tank, and filter systems are included with the project, along with a new process building. The project will improve the mill’s tall oil quality and increase efficiency.
Proximus is also completing the design of a new black liquor oxidation tank project, including all controls, power distribution, structural supports and platforms and process piping at a mill in Florida. The project will replace an antiquated system at its end of life.
Also, Proximus reports that it just completed the preliminary engineering and +/-25% cost estimate for a purchased bark handling system upgrade at a mill in Georgia. The system includes a high inertia bark hog, a scalping disc screen, and an upgrade of more than 2,200 ft. of belt conveyors and associated support structures. The project will increase bark handling capacity and reduce system plugs.
Finally, Proximus is in the process of completing the conceptual process study and +/-35% cost estimate for a new pine wood chip pins and fines separation system at a mill in Alabama. The system will include a diamond pattern roll separation screen along with supporting belt and screw conveyors and the support structures. The project will reclaim formerly lost fiber for paper production.
