Bernard, Laurent, and Alain Lemaire, co-founders of Cascades, Kingsey Falls, Que., Canada, responded yesterday (April 20) to the news of the death of Lucien G. Rolland, former president of the Rolland paper company:
"It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Mr. Rolland. He made a significant impact on the development of our industry, as well as his region. Since the Rolland family transferred their shares of the fine paper company, which bears the family name, to us in 1992, our business relationship has been filled with nothing but deep mutual respect. We were impressed by Mr. Rolland's vitality, right up to the end. On our own behalf and on behalf of our employees, we wish to extend our sincere condolences to his entire family."
Founded in 1964, Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products that are composed mainly of recycled fibers. Cascades employs 11,000 women and men, who work in close to 90 production units located in North America and Europe.
