Nominations Now Open for 2017 Major TAPPI Awards

Nominations for TAPPI’s most prestigious awards are due Aug. 1, 2016. Awards are available to recognize technical achievements, service in TAPPI and in local sections. TAPPI Fellows are recognized for both technical contributions to the industry as well as service to the association.
Nomination forms can be found on the TAPPI website under the Awards and Honors section in the Get Involved tab. Nomination forms can be submitted by email, or faxed to the attention of the Awards Department at +1-770-446-6947.
Awards that will be presented in 2017 include:
- Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal Award. Established in 1928, this is the Association's highest technical honor, and may be presented annually to recognize an individual or individuals for preeminent scientific and engineering achievements of proven commercial benefit to the world's pulp, paper, board, and forest products industries and the other industries that TAPPI serves.
- Herman L. Joachim Distinguished Service Award. This is the Association's highest award for service and may be presented annually to recognize leadership and service which have significantly and demonstrably contributed to the advancement of the Association. Established in 1983, this award is the highest honor the Association can bestow upon an individual for exemplary leadership that has significantly contributed to its advancement.
- Paul W. Magnabosco Outstanding Local Section Member Award. This is the Association’s highest honor for local sections and may be presented annually to recognize an individual for outstanding leadership and exceptional service to one or more Local Sections, which have resulted in significant and demonstrable benefits to the Local Section members. The award was established to recognize an individual whose outstanding leadership and exceptional service in Local Section activities have resulted in significant and measurable benefits to Section members.
- TAPPI Fellow. TAPPI Fellows are individuals who have been members of TAPPI for ten or more years prior to the nomination, and who have contributed meritorious service to the Association and/or the paper and related industries. Retiring members of the TAPPI Board of Directors become Fellows automatically at the end of their term. Each year, the Association may elect members as TAPPI Fellows in recognition of meritorious service to the Association and the industry. The title Fellow is also conferred upon TAPPI presidents and directors at the end of their terms of office, and upon Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal Awardees and Herman L. Joachim Distinguished Service Recipients.
