Stora Enso (Finland) has contracted ÅF (Sweden) to provide detailed engineering of a new chemical plant at Skoghall Mill in Sweden, the engineering company announced this week. The contract covers about 12,000 hours.
The new chemical plant will result in major improvements to the working environment and reduce the emissions of chlorine and sulfur dioxide.
"To create an optimal solution for Skoghall Mill, ÅF’s local resources are collaborating with ÅF’s process specialists," said Peter Lettenström, account manager at ÅF.
The contract covers detailed engineering of the process design, plant design, electrical, and automation design. The new chemical plant is expected to be completed in autumn 2017.
ÅF's release noted that the company has previously assisted during upgrades of the sulfate plant at Skoghall Mill.
