This is a new course that's designed to help you understand the latest advances in converting renewable resources into chemicals and biofuels.
You'll learn how to clearly distinguish between biochemical and thermal conversion of biomass into liquid biofuels.
The instructor, Dr. Malek Alkasrawi, assistant professor of paper science and engineering at UW-Stevens Point, will discuss basic principles of chemical and biological conversion processes in terms of yield and efficiency of biofuel and chemicals production. The discussion spans from fundamental principles at the genomic level up to large-scale industry.
