This past week, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal (New York, N.Y., USA) visited Pratt Industries (Conyers, Ga.) very large paper recycling operation located in Staten Island, N.Y. to learn more about how it was able to do such an impressive job. The site is processing half of the paper waste of the city of New York - a very large amount for one operation.

The reporting includes an interview with chairman Anthony Pratt intermixed with an explanation of the processes (with pictures) of how paper waste is collected, re-pulped, and eventually made into the type of pizza boxes pictured below.

"The biggest export from New York City is waste," explained Chairman Pratt. "Every ton of paper we keep out of the landfill saves two tons of CO2 emissions."

More information, such as the entire interview, is available in the full article available online.
