UBM EMEA, London, U.K., one of the world's leading B2B events organizers and a UBM Plc company, this week announced that it has committed to procuring paper for marketing requirements that is only 100% recycled, FSC certified, and is also carbon balanced. This is a significant step forward for UBM EMEA in continuing to reduce the environmental impact of its events, the company notes.
UBM EMEA has achieved this by streamlining the procurement process to identify a single supplier that can guarantee the sustainable credentials of all paper materials used. This will substantially contribute to UBM plc's target to reduce emissions from offices and events 11.4% per sq. meter by 2020, from a 2015 base-year.
Simon Foster, CEO, UBM EMEA, said that "at UBM EMEA, and within UBM plc, we understand the environmental impact of forestry and take sustainability seriously. As we continue to work towards reducing the amount of paper that is used on a daily basis across all of our events and offices, ensuring the effectiveness of our procurement process is a critical part of that. We want the assurance that the most highly sustainable options available are being implemented to reduce any environmental effect."
UBM EMEA will work with Denmar Independent Paper, the appointed supplier, to ensure all seven offices located within the U.K. and internationally are using the approved paper source. This will then be rolled out to additional divisions with UBM Plc.
