Catalyst Permanently Shuts Down PM 9 at Powell River Mill

Catalyst Paper has permanently shut down Paper Machine No. 9 at the Powell River mill. Paper Machine No. 9 has been indefinitely curtailed since December. 2014. Catalyst said that it continues to focus on revitalizing the Powell River mill for the future.
Powell River Division, located on the mainland coast of British Columbia in Canada, produces newsprint and uncoated mechanical specialty papers. Its specialty products are used in catalogues, magazines, newsletters, inserts, flyers, and high-volume weekend newspaper magazines.
The Powell River mill’s two machines produce 350,000 metric tpy. The mill has 383 employees.
