Japan’s BSK and BHK Pulp Imports Decline

Japan’s 2016 pulp imports were down y/y through August, according to data released this past week by the Japan Ministry of Finance. BSK (bleached softwood kraft) pulp imports were down 0.7%, while BHK (bleached hardwood kraft) pulp imports were down 12%, with 34% less from Indonesia.

The following table shows Japan’s BSK and BHK pulp imports for August and for the first eight months of 2016 from various sections of the world, including the U.S. and Canada.
