Nichols Paper Donates $50,000 to Paper Discovery Center

 

Nichols Paper Products, Nichols, Wis., USA, a specialty printer and converter and a strong supporter of the education of the paper industry, announced a $50,000 donation to the Paper Discovery Center (PDC).  The PDC is located on the bank of the Fox River in Appleton in a historic and renovated paper mill, which has been converted into a science and technology museum. It has attracted more than 87,000 local, national, and international visitors since it opened in 2005. 

In promoting the paper industry as the embodiment of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), the PDC through its unique programs and interactive exhibits has become a sought-after educational resource in demonstrating the value of a STEM education and creating interest in STEM and science related fields.

 

"Nichols Paper is committed to supporting and giving back to its community," said Brian Dahlin, Nichols Paper’s VP of sales and Marketing. "It is a privilege to be associated with the Paper Discovery Center. Through our donation to the PDC, we hope to inspire the next generation of papermakers." 

Maria Costello, Paper Discovery Center executive director, said that "we are grateful to Nichols Paper for this wonderful gift. Their generosity will help us expand the educational opportunities and activities to better serve our community as well as honor the proud and rich history of the paper industry."

 

Bernie Dahlin, Nichols Paper president and co-owner, added that "our family has been involved in the paper and forest products industry for more than 100 years. With this contribution, we’ll be honoring the legacy of my father, Bernard A. ‘Dutch’ Dahlin who worked 53 years designing, building, and maintaining paper machines for the old Fort Howard Paper Co."
