The Roll and Pulp Finishing System Coordinator will provide technical leadership through roll, sheeting, and pulp cutter and bale finishing processes, secondary fiber feed systems, engineering and project development skills to develop and recommend value added capital and non-capital solutions to meet business objectives for International Paper global manufacturing facilities.  In additional to capital project development, a successful candidate will support project commissioning/startup plan development and implementation, proliferate new technology opportunities, lead or support business initiatives including asset re-positioning and acquisition due diligence studies, and review capital investment proposals for soundness and accuracy.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Troubleshoot roll handling, roll wrapping, pulp cutter and pulp bale handling systems, secondary fiber feed systems and provide opportunities to improve throughput and reduce costs.
  • Personal safety performance as well as promotion of safe work habits and design.
  • Continuously improving capital effectiveness through the use of technology selection, problem solving, equipment layout, and project development tools; also, through evaluation of supplier proposals to meet IP’s needs most effectively.
  • Development and delivery of persuasive presentations to build consensus among project team members.
  • Managing customer perceptions and expectations resulting in an effective business partnership.
  • Sharing and proliferation of knowledge and Best Practices through teams and e-forums.
Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred; significant work experience in PLCs and roll handling and pulp bale handling systems will be considered as a substitute
  • Minimum of 10 years of paper industry experience in paper manufacturing, engineering, converting, or machine supplier positions
  • Understanding of basic roll handling and roll wrapper systems, pulp bale handling processes, product attributes and equipment
  • Capital project development and implementation experience
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, able to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels
  • Skilled with analytical troubleshooting techniques
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint software; PLC programming and CAD software
  • Customer focus, dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal clients and external customers
  • Capability to organize and manage several activities simultaneously
  • Proven ability to set and manage clear objectives and metrics to achieve results
  • A strong drive for results to accomplish goals, self-initiative
  • Interpersonal savvy
  • Integrity and trust
  • Ability to travel 50% to 80% of the time; will include international travel.
