Kyiv CPM Starts up Machine after New Yankee Cylinder Installation

As part of a modernization of its PM 1 tissue machine, Kyiv CPM (Cardboard and Paper Mill), Ukraine, recently replaced the yankee dryer cylinder with a new unit manufactured by Valmet, Finland. Following the rebuild, PM 1 was started up on Nov. 30, 2016, and immediately began producing quality tissue paper. The machine has the capacity to produce 40,000 metric tpy of tissue.
The mill in the city of Obukhov, near Kiev, produces the company’s Obukhivh 65 brand of At Home toilet tissue on PM 1, using 100% recycled fiber. According to Kyiv CPM, recycled tissue paper meets quality standards of the market. Installation of the new yankee cylinder, it adds, will increase production and significantly improve the quality of tissue paper the mill produces.
Kyiv CPM is one of the largest enterprises in Europe that produces both paperboard and paper products. It is part of the Austrian Pulp Mill Holding, and maintains about a 30% share of pulp and paper products sold into the Ukraine market. The mill, which recycles some 850 metric tons of fiber per day, employs about 2,200 people.
Tissue products produced by the mill include toilet tissue, napkins, and paper towels,. It has a production capacity for the products of approximately 70,000 metric tpy. In addition to the Obuhov 65 brand of tissue, Kyiv CM also produces Divo, MyLova, and Soffione brands of tissue products.
