China’s BHK, BSK Pulp Imports Rise

China’s BHK (bleached hardwood kraft) pulp imports were up 40% y/y in January-February 2017. Imports from Brazil were up 51%. China’s BSK (bleached softwood kraft) pulp imports were up 14% y/y, with big jumps from the U.S. and Chile, and a decrease off 3% from Canada.

The following table, based on data from the China Customs Bureau, shows China’s pulp imports from key global areas for BSK and BHK in February 2017 versus February  2016, and for the first two months of 2017.
