This year marks 45 years since Domtar, Montreal, Que., Canada, launched Cougar® paper. This offset paper has become the premium choice of design professionals and printers to help bring their creative visions to life with consistent printing performance.
The Cougar legacy began at Domtar’s Rothschild Mill, located on the east bank of the Wisconsin River. The Rothschild Mill is the only mill that produces Cougar paper, and Domtar’s colleagues take pride in being the exclusive manufacturer of the brand, which was named after the Washington State University Cougars.
During recent years, Cougar, like many of Domtar’s products, has seen continuous improvement. After being introduced in 80 brightness, the Cougar paper today boasts a high 98 brightness. It is offered in two shades—white and natural. It also comes in three finishes—super smooth, smooth, and vellum.
Cougar, the premium uncoated printing paper, became more environmentally responsible in 2008 when the company added 10% post-consumer recycled content to the product line and had it FSC certified. Cougar paper is also supported by the Rainforest Alliance and is the flagship member of Domtar’s EarthChoice® family of papers.
Through the years, a variety of important documents have been printed on Domtar’s Cougar paper, including ballot stock for elections, presidential inauguration invitations, and even presidential holiday cards.
To mark Cougar’s anniversary, Domtar Blueline is offering premium promotional items that illustrate the Cougar legacy. This video highlights Cougar paper and its dedication to quality and performance for 45 years.
The legacy of Cougar paper begins with the creatives and businesses who have trusted Cougar for their most important print projects and the printers who count on Cougar as their go-to sheet because it exceeds expectations every time.
