PPA Announces 2017 Student Design Challenge Winners

The Paperboard Packaging Alliance (PPA), Washington, D.C., USA, this week announced the winners of the 2017 Student Design Challenge at its awards luncheon in Las Vegas, Nev., USA.
The challenge participants designed an interactive package for a fitness tracker that allows customers to try on the product before purchase and to store the tracker after purchase. "Congratulations to this year’s Student Design Challenge winners on their impressive designs, which stood out among submissions from more than 220 student designers," said American Forest & Paper Association President and CEO Donna Harman.
"We hope all 2017 participants enjoyed their Student Design Challenge experience and are now considering a career in the paperboard packaging industry," said Paperboard Packaging Council President Ben Markens.

1st Place: Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)

Winners were chosen by a team of paperboard packaging industry professionals who rated submissions based on their response to the competition scenario, innovative structural and graphic design, functionality, and the quality of the finished product.
The winning student teams received a cash prize to share among their team members and their respective schools received a cash award to support their academic program. First place: $5,000 to the team, $5,000 to the school; second place: $3,000 to the team, $3,000 to the school; and third place: $1,500 to the team, $1,500 to the school.
