Panel Talks P&P Tech Imperatives at PEERS 2017
One of the significant, sought-after highlights of PEERS 2017 is the State of the Industry Panel. Titled Advancing Manufacturing Technology (Session Three), it is slated for Monday, November 6, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with an address by the moderator followed by the panel session from 11:00a.m. – 12:00p.m..
Moderated by Agenda 2020 Technology Alliance President and Executive Director David Turpin, the panel will focus on the future of technology advancement, what is needed, and where the industry must look to get it done.
Topics include:
•State of technology in pulp and paper
•State of technology research in pulp and paper
•The biggest opportunities for technology and efficiency improvement
•How (and where) to stimulate technology research
•Why companies should collaborate
•How the technical community can engage in and promote technology research—and why it must)
•The roles of suppliers, manufacturers, and academics
The panelists represent an array of perspectives from the industry:
•Bertil Stromberg, Vice President, BioRefinery, Fiber and Chemical Division, Andritz, providing pulping and bleaching expertise from the supplier side
•Dirk Krouskop, President and CEO, National Council for Air & Stream Improvement, representing the industry’s sustainability capabilities, accountability and data perspectives.
•Norman Marsolan, Director, Renewable Bioproducts Institute at Georgia Institute of Technology
•Alan Rudie, Assistant Director, Wood Fiber and Composites Research Division, U.S. Forest Service/Forest Products Laboratory (FPL), on FPL’s research priorities relative to the forest products industry
•Bob Feeser, President, Consumer Packaging, WestRock, representing paper and packaging manufacturing
PEERS 2017 is the pre-eminent conference providing real-world examinations of the pulping, power/recovery, environmental and equipment reliability areas of mill operations and is designed to address actual challenges that mill teams face each day. As an added bonus, the International Bioenergy and Bioproducts Conference (IBBC) is offered as a co-located event providing an even broader perspective on the industry – two great conferences for one registration fee.
The Agenda 2020 Technology Alliance, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to identifying high priority, pre-competitive technology challenges for the pulp and paper industry, and to promote scientific research and development projects to address them.
