North American P&W Paper Demand Down 6% y/y in January

Demand for North American printing and writing (P&W) papers declined 6% in January 2018, according to the Pulp and Paper Products Council (PPPC), Montreal, Que., Canada. Shipments/capacity ratio of North American P&W papers was 91% versus 90% a year ago.
The following PPPC table shows North American P&W Paper statistics for January 2018 with percent change from a year ago for operating rate, total shipments, and total demand for key P&W paper grades. The table also lists producer inventories in January 2018 versus December 2017.
