DS Smith (London, U.K.) this week published the group's Sustainability Review 2018. The report is described as telling the story of how DS Smith has worked over the course of this year so far to embed sustainability throughout business by discussing key issues, being honest about challenges, and sharing success in how the group will work to create sustainable value at every stage of the supply cycle, focusing primarily on:
- Product design and innovation
- Sourcing
- Manufacturing operations
- Customers’ supply cycles
- End of life and recycling.
In the review for 2017 the company announced that, in light of achieving existing energy, water, and waste targets ahead of schedule, they would also review overall sustainability performance targets. Following this most recent review, DS Smith shared a range of nine new (pictured below), ambitious, long-term targets which will be reported for the first time next year (2019). By delivering on these targets, DS Smith looks to achieve an ambition to lead the way in sustainability.
