Metsä Board Invests in Capacity Increase at its Kaskinen BCTMP Mill

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Metsä Board, part of Metsä Group (Helsinki, Finland), is investing in a second baling line at its Kaskinen mill. Together with process and grade changes carried out previously this investment will increase the mill’s bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) capacity and will improve product consistency and production reliability. The line will be taken into use during November–December 2018. The value of the investment is EUR 6 million.

The investment will increase the annual capacity by a further 30,000 metric tons to 370,000 metric tons and will help the mill respond to growing demand. The BCTMP produced in Kaskinen is used both for Metsä Board’s folding boxboard production as well as for market pulp. High quality BCTMP helps provide important properties for folding boxboard such as light weight.

Metsä Board Kaskinen is one of the largest and most modern BCTMP mills in the world.
