Paper Discovery Center Seeks Information on Working Tissue Machine Model
About a year ago the Paper Discovery Center in Appleton, Wis., USA, received a donation of a model of a tissue machine. The model is a semi-working model with a fourdrinier wet end, press section, and heated Yankee dryer. It also has unheated after dryers and an air cap.
The model was originally owned by Scott Paper, however, further details are unknown. The machine was initially donated to a mill wright school in Pittsburgh, PA, and later to a mill wright school in Menasha, WI. It is interesting to note that the forming fabric is bronze and the wet felts are wool which dates this machine as fairly old.
Shipping crate labels indicated that Scott was sending it around to various company locations. The Paper Discovery Center would like to know more about the history of the model, such as when was it built and for what purpose and where it was originally located.
If you or anyone you know (especially former Scott Paper employees) have any information, please contact Tom Rodencal by email at rodencal@bellsouth.net.
