Effective
partnership begins when two entities find alignment of mission. Bridging
strategy, research and information exchange results in the power of a
partnership designed to help advance industry and bring value. North
Carolina State University (NCSU) and TAPPI, the leading global association for
the pulp, paper, tissue, packaging and related industries, recently entered
into just such a partnership for two events: NCSU’s Tissue Conference (hosted
June 4 – 5 at the university) and TAPPI’s TissueCon being
held October 1 – 4 in Orlando, FL.
NCSU’s Tissue Conference focused
on the advances in fiber development, fiber reduction and sustainability of
hygiene tissue products. The nearly 20 presentations offered research
from some of the top universities around the globe. The event also showcased
NCSU’s Tissue Pack Innovation Lab’s tissue testing capabilities.
As
an industry partner, TAPPI offers internationally recognized operational best
practices and standards, technical training, and exceptional resources for
researchers and scientists. Its
upcoming TissueCon
2019 features several NCSU speakers, including Ronalds Gonzalez, Ph.D., Co-director
of the Tissue Pack Innovation Lab and member of the Conversion Economics and
Supply Chain faculty in NCSU’s Paper Science & Engineering program. Dr.
Gonzalez will discuss research on sustainability, performance and pricing. Also
speaking is Lokendra Pal, Ph.D., an Associate Professor in NCSU’s Department of
Forest Biomaterials. Dr. Pal will be addressing a new paradigm for high
strength-high softness (HS)2 tissue production.
