In order to stay competitive in today’s market, mills must stay abreast of the latest technologies, processes and trends in the industry. They are constantly looking for information that can help them operate faster, better and more efficiently. Sending their operational teams for training can help ensure they are following best practices and knowledgeable of new technologies and advancements. TAPPI’s Pulping, Engineering, Environmental, Recycling and Sustainability (PEERS) Conference is a training resource for mills that offers a comprehensive technical program developed by industry experts.
PEERS 2019, October 27-30, 2019 in St. Louis, MO, focuses on the latest advances in technology, as well as fundamental process knowledge and control issues mills face each day. Its technical program includes seven tracks emphasizing new methods and best practices to help mills optimize operations and reach their sustainability goals. The Conference provides mills and other professionals the opportunity to learn from industry experts in a presentation setting, as well as engage in peer-to-peer discussions during panel sessions, committee meetings and roundtables. PEERS also offers hands-on workshops that address critical areas of the mill process. Workshops include:
- Bleach Plant Operations: Focused on bleaching technology and its implications for pulp quality control and environmental impacts. It also covers best practices, operation parameters, process optimization, and new technologies and equipment designs.
- Brown Stock Washing: Addresses basic operating and design principles, and the fundamental applications of displacement, extraction, and dilution washing.
- Project Management: Organized by InEight, the workshop discusses how project controls software is utilized to improve efficiencies during planned outages. It also covers best practices when creating estimates and project controls for O&M and capital work.
- Lean Six Sigma (LSS): Basic Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and techniques will be discussed, as well as the philosophy, methods and benefits of Lean and Six Sigma.
All four workshops will be held Sunday, October 27. Three run from 8:00am - 4:00pm, while the fourth runs from 7:30am - 4:00pm. Registration and a separate fee are required for each.
PEERS also offers multiple networking events including the 36th Annual PaperChase Fun Run/Walk, Young Professionals Mixer, conference dinner, and receptions. In addition, attendees can visit the exhibit floor and speak face-to-face with suppliers about the latest technologies and solutions.
PEERS is co-located with the International Bioenergy & Bioproducts Conference (IBBC) and 12th Research Forum on Recycling. Attendees can attend all three events for only one registration fee.
PEERS Early Bird registration ends on October 3. Register today and save! Mills qualify for special group discounts.
