TAPPI will present an all-new webinar on Thursday, April 9, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. EDT called The Science Behind Energy Efficient Homes, which will present an overview of energy efficient homes and their role in energy consumption.
Energy efficient homes reduce unnecessary energy consumption resulting in lower greenhouse gas emissions and demands for nonrenewable resources. This one-hour webinar will define what makes a home energy efficient, and discuss steps to achieve energy efficiency, including:
- What is a Carbon Footprint
- Energy source and use
- Electromagnetic spectrum and Infrared Radiation
- Implication of Sun’s path over a house in terms of energy efficiency
- Energy efficiency and windows
- Indoor air quality related to energy efficient homes
The webinar is being taught by Sanjiv. R. Malkan, Ph.D., CText FTI, PMP, Engineering Principal, Hunter Douglas. Dr. Malkan holds a Ph.D. in Textiles and Polymer Science and has more than 30 years working in Textiles, Nonwovens & Adhesives. He has more than 50 publications and presentations and five book chapters and holds five US patents as well as four design patents.
