By the end of May, Italy's paper and packaging group Pro-Gest received all permits necessary to fire up production at the company's 405,000 tpy recycled corrugated case material (RCCM) mill in Mantua.

However, it would take three more months before paper production at Pro-Gest's subsidiary Cartiere Villa Lagarina in Mantua is up and running. The group was planning to start production in September, Pro-Gest announced.

Mantua RCCM mill is geared to produce recycled fibre-based fluting and liner grades in basis weights of 70-160 g/m². Pro-Gest considers the start of the Mantua mill to be a turning point in the group's industrial policy. The Mantua plant would be finally able "to contribute positively to the group's economic results, instead of reducing them," Pro-Gest said at the occasion of presenting its first quarter 2020 results.
